You may never have realised, but Oasis band member Liam Gallagher wasn’t named ‘Liam’ as a baby and fans have been left in shock by the recent revelation.

Many took to Twitter to make a mockery of Gallagher by deciding to call him by his real name instead – which isn’t considered too edgy for his rock ‘n’ roll image.

According to recent reports, his Irish parents Thomas and Peggy named the Wonderwall singer William John Paul Gallagher at birth, but nicknamed his ‘Liam’ and it stuck.

The 45 year-old is currently in the middle of releasing his brand new solo album As You Were, despite claiming that he would never release one because he’s ‘not a c***.

Defending his decision for the new solo album, he said:
“I know, I know, I know. I was lying when I [tweeted that]… I prefer it being a band mate, to be brutally honest.

“But there is no band at the moment, so a solo record it is. There’s too many solo records and not enough bands, as far as I’m concerned. At least I’m doing a solo record ’cause I have to.”

Poking fun at his real name, one tweeter wrote ‘As you were WG’

Whilst another added: ‘Who the f**k is William Gallagher?’.

Another sarcastically said: ‘What’s up William? @liamgallagher’
