For any Instagram star, or even anyone who uses Instagram, this is truly a nightmare scenario, and that nightmare came true for one Instagram star who accidently live-streamed herself having sex for three whole minutes.

18-year-old social media star Kristen Hancher was enjoying some alone time with her boyfriend Andrew Gregory. However, unfortunately for the young couple, they were not as alone as they thought they were.

And in an agonisingly embarrassing turn of events, it seems as though one of them must have accident hit the record button on her Instagram story, meaning that their intimacy wasn’t very intimate any longer, as their alone time was live-streamed to approximately 14,000 people.

Now to be fair, as bad as that sounds it could have been much worse, given that Kristen has 3.9 million followers on her Instagram account. Still, 14,000 ain’t exactly a small gathering in a backyard now is it?

The couple also had a small stroke of luck fall in their laps, as the camera was not facing their direction meaning that there were no visuals to accompany the sound. Regrettably however, there was quite a lot of sound.

The live-stream aired on Kristen’s Instagram story for a full three minutes before she realised what was happening and shut it down.

Now I know that if you or I had been caught in this situation, then we’d probably already be half way across the world ready to settle into a new life, away from the popular masses, as a hermit in Peru, but the social media star handled the situation in a much better, braver and much more straightforward fashion.

She told her followers: “Whoever saw my live, I just wanna apologise; that was totally NOT intentional. Delete it from your mind.

“On what happened on my live, on my Instastory, I accidentally went live and found out three minutes later and 14,000 people were watching. I am so sorry.

“That was super embarrassing and super uncomfortable.

“I apologise to all my fan pages. I know you all have been upset because I never gave you guys a full explanation.

“But for real, guys, s**t happens. Accidents happen. You have to move and and pretend like it never happened and go on with your life. That’s what I’m gonna do.”

Now this might have been a mistake, but one good thing might come out of it, and that is that it will almost certainly raise her profile and get people talking about her – after all, I am right here – and that will lead to more follows on social media t

There has also been a precedent of ‘mistakes’ like this in the past. One in particular, was when Canadian gamer Nova Petra had a similar live streaming mishap, and she found out that it can help to build a profile too.

Petra is known throughout the online gaming community for her skillz that pay the billz, but she also became well known for something else entirely, when in one video, she tells her viewers that she is going to ‘log off’, but seems to forget to do so. Meaning that hundreds of people were still watching when she decided to partake in a little alone time of her own.

Like Kristen’s situation, this must of been super embarrassing for Nova, but it did boost her online profile, with her YouTube growing and her subscriptions sitting at a tidy 35,000.

Of course, this led to debate online as to whether it was indeed a mistake or whether it was a publicity stunt, and people took to Reddit to voice their opinions, and although many concluded that it was fake, they still enjoyed what they saw.

Wrestling and magic essentially rely on the same formula.

One user said: “It’s fake – there’s a whole scene of cam girls that act like streamers and act like they forgot to turn their cam off.”

Another said: “I never said it wasn’t staged, but she is DEFINITELY going at herself and that’s all I care about.”

And another concluded: “Even if it was staged or fake, it’s still pretty damn hot. I’d like to see more content like this.”

In the case of Nova, staged or not, it certainly helped in the long haul, and Kristen might well find out the same thing.
