Former Eastenders actor Jack Ryder looked completely unrecognisable at the premiere of the Take That musical last night and has left fans gobsmacked by his brand-new look.

The 36 year-old played Jamie Mitchell in the BBC soap between 1998-2002 and became the teenage heartthrob of girls around the country.

He was well-known for sporting a blonde curtain hair-do back in those days, however, has now chosen to go for a more mature look.

Fans were left devastated by Jamie’s dramatic exit. Tragically, he was killed in a car accident on Christmas Day of 2002, after getting run over by Martin Fowler, meaning there was no possibility of his return to the square in the future.

Jamie’s main storylines in the soap involved his relationship with Sonia.

Since leaving Eastenders over 14 years go, Ryder went on to appear in a number of theatre and TV shows and later decided to go down the route of directing.

His latest project is directing The Band – a new musical which is based around Take That’s journey to fame and features many of their hit songs.

Ryder attended the premiere last night showcasing a dapper look; as he wore a stylish tweed jacket, accompanied by a shirt and tie. He is now also sporting a shorter hairstyle, as opposed to his curtain-fringe days, aswell as a beard and moustache.

The plotline of the new show revolves around ‘The Five to Five’ boys, who perform Take That’s tracks, however, the story is in no way biographical of the well-known members.

The five boys chosen to take part in the show were winners of BBC’s Let It Shine, however, the show has already received criticism after reports have emerged that it has ‘misled’ viewers.

Fans are reportedly in uproar that the boys are in fact only backing singers and don’t have a spoken word in the entirety of the show.

Last year, Jack also shocked fans by uploading a photo of himself on Instagram, showcasing another completely different look:

Sporting a shaved head and rimmed glasses, we’re sad to say that the floppy-haired look has well and truly disappeared folks!

Ryder was also well-known for marrying Coronation Street actress and former Hearsay member Kym Marsh, however, the couple divorced in 2008.
